Interview with Michal Brezina
Nebelhorn Trophy 2007 in Oberstdorf
Q: Congratulations for winning this competition. Can you please describe your feelings after winning here?
A: I feel good, because this was my first competition at the senior level and I was first for the first time in a senior competition. So I think my feelings are very good.
Q: What are your plans now? Will you fight for a placement at Europeans and Worlds or will you focus on juniors this season?
A: I hope I can make the second place for Europeans and maybe Worlds (earn the second spot on the team). I hope also to be at Junior Worlds.
Q: Where are you training?
A: In Oberstdorf and Brno.
Q: In Oberstdorf you are working with Karel Fajfr. Who is your coach in the Czech Republic?
A: Peter Starec. I was over the summer in Oberstdorf for one and a half months, now I’m here for two weeks. I am here (in Oberstdorf) for three months during the year.
Q: Are you planning to take part in any training camps like Flims or Ice Dome next year?
A: Maybe it would be good if I come to the Ice Dome, but I don’t now (yet).
Q: Have you already landed a quad in practice?
A: Yes.
Q: How did you get involved in skating and when?
A: I started skating in 1997, because I wanted to play ice hockey. After the Olympics in 1998 I said to my father I wanted to play ice hockey, and he said ‘ok, but you have to learn how to skate. So I stayed in figure skating.
Q: What does figure skating mean to you?
A: Fun, hard work and I like it.
Q: What are you proud of in your career?
A: I am a three-time National Champion in juniors and I think that’s the best (I’ve done so far)
Q: Who is your role model?
A: (Jozef) Sabovcik and Jeffrey Buttle.
Q: What are you doing besides skating? What are your hobbies?
A: Music, computers, any other sports.
Q: This question comes from a big fan of you. She wants to know if you like it when the spectators are screaming and cheering loudly for you during your performance.
A: Yes, I like it. It’s really good for my feeling when someone likes me and makes a big scream. It’s good, because yesterday in the free skating it was very nice how the people (spectators) screamed (and supported me). It’s very good for the feeling.
Q: Thank you very much for this interview.
