Interview Paolo Bacchini

Oberstdorf, July 2011

Q. On what do you work for the new season?

A: I’m working on a new long program and I’d like to do a triple Axel in the program at the World Championship. I’m working on a quad jump because I was ready for it last year, but I didn’t have the time to put it in the program. So this year maybe I’m aiming at doing triple Axels and a quad.

Q: Will you reveal something about your new program?

A: Barber of Seville! We made the choice with Peter Grütter. It’s really fun for me to skate this program. I really feel this character, so I’m happy with this choice.

Q: Who choreographed the program?

A: I worked with the choreographer Corrado Giordani in Milan and I worked also with Salome Brunner. I think it is a good program, I hope.

Q: How is your preparation going for the season so far?

A: I just changed my skates, so it’s normal that you have some problems with a good feeling to skate. But I think in one more week I’m going to be fine as I was at the end of the season.

Q: What is next and what are your plans?

A: After Oberstdorf I’m going back to Italy because of a tour, some shows. And then I’m going back to Geneva to train with Mr. Grütter.

Q: Which competitions do you plan to attend?

A: The federation sent me the competitions I’m going to do: Finlandia Trophy, Golden Spin of Zagreb, Merano-Cup. I have no Grand Prix this year and so I’m going to do my normal competitions.

Q: What goals do you set for yourself?

A: I wanted to be close to tenth place in the Europeans and finally get to Worlds.
I did that and so I’m satisfied. Let’s see for the future.

Q: Thank you for the interview and all the best.
